Psychologist Kevin Leman, author of The Birth Order Book, recently shared some insights about how one’s birth order affects his or her romantic relationships. According to Leman, first-born children are dependable planners who don’t like surprises, while middle children are stable compromisers. As far as the youngest, well, people may not be surprised to learn that they are supposed to be the fun-loving partners who enjoy spontaneity and fun activities. There are also insights into only children, which is what my daughter is.
Check out the link and see if you fit the profile for your own birth order. As the oldest, I found mine to be pretty accurate; I’m a big planner, make most of the decisions (with the whole family, not just with my partner—who is also a firstborn), and I’m not as spontaneous as I’d like to be. I have always been the leader, whether it was in school functions, babysitting, or teaching. However, I do enjoy surprises—well, sometimes. If you drop by the house and it’s not clean (or I’m ill and braless) I’m not going to like it!
How about you? Does your birth order profile fit your style, or is it way off base?
