Romance is such an elusive word. What does it mean? To put it bluntly, romance is a term coined with the mystery and excitement of fancying someone. It can also be defined as nonsensical or an impractical state of mind.
…Impractical how, exactly? If romance is associated with good feelings and good feelings make for a more energetic person, how can one theorize that being in love is impractical? Here’s proof that being happy (whether in love or focusing in on specific tasks) makes you more productive at work. Click here for details.
To stem the feeling of romance further, what we here in America call “New Relationship Energy”, Norwegians call “Forelsket”. This refers to the feelings (euphoria, for example) you have when you’re initially in love with someone. That pins and needles or butterflies in your stomach feeling of restlessness. In one movie (It Takes Two [1995]) this feeling was quoted as “can’t eat, can’t sleep, reach for the stars over the fence, World Series kind of stuff”. You can view the movie’s most memorable quotes, including this one, here.
Everyone knows the clichéd phrase “How could I live without you?” It turns out- the Arabic language has an actual term to coin that phrase, “Ya’aburnee”. Literally translated, this means “you bury me”. The idea behind this phrase is that the clichéd dating term suddenly takes on a more genuine sincere tone. Someone who says “Ya’aburnee” is a person who is hoping that they die before their loved one, because the idea of living without them would be unbearable.
