Top 3 Predicted Wedding Songs for 2009
Most couples want to find that perfect song that really sums up who they are and their relationship towards one another. I know with my current relationship we have “our song” and he has a song for me and me for him, but these are songs that we would never use for our wedding. For your wedding song or first dance, you want something usually more romantic, maybe at a slower pace and yet something that still defines who you are as a couple, how you show your love for one another and of course, now that you are married, you new love song.
I have come up with a list of three songs that I believe will be the top 3 wedding songs of 2009 with one new/original song, one popular song, and one all time favorite, classic song.
New/Original : You Make It Real by James Morrison

This new James Morrison (not to be confused with Van Morrison) single came out in September 2008, which makes it a new and original wedding song. Lyrics are a big deal for me (as I assume they are to most couples), so here are a few versus his song:
“There's so much craziness, surrounding me
There's so much going on, it gets hard to breathe
When all my faith has gone, you bring it back to me
You make it real for me
Everybody is talking in words
I don't understand
You got to be the only one
Who knows just who I am
Your shining in the distance
I hope I can make it through
Cause the only place
That I want to be
Is right back home with you”
I love this song because it is not the traditional, popular wedding song. It keeps it “real”. I think this song will be a hit amongst people who lead busy lives, yet all they want to do is be together.
This next song has been one of the most popular wedding songs since it came out in 1999. I am pretty sure everyone has heard it, especially if you have been looking for wedding songs. I like it because it describes perfectly your feelings towards one another, especially on your wedding day.
Most Popular: I Do (Cherish You) by 98° Degrees

The lyrics in this song describe happenings of your wedding day and how you will cherish each other for the rest of your lives. I love how they mention little things, like “your hand brushes mine and a thousand sensations seduce me…” Here is the chorus of the song:
“I do cherish you
For the rest of my life
You don't have to think twice
I will love you still
From the depths of my soul
It's beyond my control
I've waited so long to say this to you
If you're asking do I love you this much
I do”
This is a perfect, slightly generic, wedding song that has been used by thousands of wedding parties since it came out in 1999. If you are having trouble finding the perfect song that suites you and your partner the best, I would use this one. It is and has been one of the best and most perfect wedding songs for the last 10 years.
The last song I have chosen is an all time classic (and classy to bout) love song. No matter what generation, what type of music, this song is a beautiful, dreamy, and a dancing on clouds wedding song - absolutely perfect for the first dance between husband and wife, or partner and partner.
Classic: At Last by Etta James

Below are my most favorite lyrics from Etta James, At Last:
“At last
my love has come along
my lonely days over
and life is like a song
I found a thrill
to press my cheek to
A thrill that I have never known “
If you are unsure of what song to choose for your wedding and you do not want it to be one of those over the top popular songs, but you still want something classic, sweet and sincere, I would go for this.
There is also an amazing website that lets you create your own personal wedding or love song. You send in stories or words that best describe you and your partner, and then within 5 to 10 days, they will have made you a song or CD full of love songs, especially for the two of you. This is perfect for the couple that is having a hard time finding the perfect songs that fits them best, and who is looking for something truly original.
