Some of the best dates I've ever had took place in a dimly lit room, at home, surrounded by good food. I remember when my husband chose a very creative way to get me to unwind after stressful week of writing non stop and worrying about money. He asked me to stay in the office for a while and told me that he would come get me when he was ready. An hour and a half later he pulled me out to see the most romantic setting. He had candles burning, (we don't have a fireplace) classical music on low and dinner on the table. That night was awesome because I came out relaxed, he did something great for me and the fun lasted long after we finished supper.
This date works with candles or a fireplace and you can decide whether or not you want to set a five course table or pull out blankets to create a romantic indoor picnic. You can plan it together with your significant other or boyfriend or girlfriend; or, you could decide to surprise them. Either method leads to success with this date idea.
Choose the right type of music to set the mood for romance. While classical was a great choice for me, it may not be the right one for everybody else. Your honey may enjoy rock and find that relaxing. Play rock if you like it as well. The point here is to set the stage for a romantic encounter between the two of you. It won't work if one of you doesn't like the tunes.
Cook a favored meal together or before your honey arrives home. Pick an easy but tasteful supper to prepare unless one of you has Iron Chef tendencies. Place the finished meal either onto paper plates for the picnic or fancy china for the dinner table.
Light the candles or fire and pour whichever drinks you decide to serve. Wine would help set the stage for romance but other drinks, such as sparkling apple juice, work just as well.
Spend the rest of your evening enjoying each others company after a romantic dinner in front of candle or firelight.
