The Great American Sex Diet

No matter how much fire and steam you generate at the start of a relationship, some of it is bound to fizz out after a while. Many women—and even men—feel their sex drives completely shut down after a while. And let’s face it: things can get boring when you do them over and over.

There are many books, guides, decks, sets, toys, experts, and gunky-jelly products out there all guaranteed to rev up your sex life. Some will; some won’t. The Great American Sex Diet is one that probably will. It can be used by married couples or dating couples and, like the author’s previous books, comes with a number of pull-out materials.

Written by Laura Corn (author of 101 Nights of Grrreat Sex and other famous rip-out-the-page-and-do-what-it-says books), the premise of this book is that if a couple has sex four times a week, they can revitalize both their sex life and their relationship itself.

While four times a week sounds like a lot—as well as exhausting for some of us—Corn’s “diet” makes it fun with playful suggestions, tips and tricks to make each night different. From creative ways to use a string of pearls to implementing food into your sex, there are hundreds of combinations available from her “His & Her Menus.”

Included in the book, along with the “menus” and other tips and tricks, Corn has included a calendar to plan your sex dates on. The planner must inscribe his or her date night with a special title or note to his or her lover to create anticipation. Corn also lists some suggestions for these, and includes a second calendar if the readers wishes to try the experiment for another month.

Finally, much of the book itself chronicles the lives of a select group of couples who tried out the sex diet. While some of them didn’t fare very well—mostly because one or the other did not follow the diet—most of the couples did report both better sex and a better relationship overall after following it.

From experience, I can vouch that it’s hard to keep four sex dates a week—especially if both of you work, have children, etc. But if you do it, it is a lot of fun definitely does add to your relationship. Many of the suggestions will make you laugh or feel embarrassed as you carry them out, but that also just builds more memories for your collection as a couple.
